Guided by creativity
Hi there!
I hope you’re having a cosy autumn. It’s my favourite season, there’s so much inspiration around - I love collecting leaves and natural forms. It’s also been a time of change and reflection for me — in both life and work. Do you find that too, as the seasons shift? I’m feeling both uncertainty and renewed hope in equal measure. The jewellery world, and the way we connect with others, is changing. It can be hard to keep up, and easy to feel overwhelmed. As small business owners, we ride continual peaks and troughs — sometimes all we can do is take a deep breath and hold fast. Yet through it all, there’s always a guiding light I return to.
This autumn, I’ve been reading The Signs by Tara Swart — a wonderful reminder of our resilience and intuition. It’s helping me notice small signs of hope and possibility. Another favourite is The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, a trusted resource I return to often for creative guidance and gentle encouragement. I highly recommend this book for artists and creatives.
In times like these, I find it grounding to look back at my journey — to see how I’ve grown and evolved as an artist. Revisiting old pieces fills me with pride and perspective. It’s not always easy to keep going (and I know fellow makers will relate), but somehow a spark always rekindles my inspiration, and the creative journey continues. It’s really nice to see my work from then and now side by side, to see how my style and skill has grown. I look at this journey with great fondness and it spurs me on.

For me, the joy lies in making — in the alchemy of fire and metal, and the transformation of ancient materials into something enduring and meaningful. Creativity feels essential to our human essence, and jewellery carries that story through generations. My love for it remains as strong as ever. Are you an artist or maker too? How do you stay steady through uncertain times? What helps you reconnect with your creative self? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Happy creating,
